Dear Students,

On behalf of the Division of Student Affairs, I wish to thank you for all of your efforts to keep the Boston College community safe and healthy throughout the fall semester. Your efforts have contributed to creating and sustaining a caring and supportive environment where we can continue to learn and grow both in person and virtually.

I know this can be a stressful time of the year in normal circumstances. I recognize the challenging public health situation we are facing only adds to the natural feelings of stress and anxiety that might be experienced during the last few weeks of class and final exams. With this in mind, I encourage you to continue to take good care of yourselves and to continue to check on your friends, roommates, teammates and classmates. Now more than ever, we need to come together as a community to take care of each other. Please know there are many people in the Boston College community who are here to support you.

As we enter into the last few weeks of the semester, I would like to remind you that your continued adherence to the University’s health and safety protocols is critical to having a successful end to the semester. For all students, we want you to remain healthy to be able to perform well in your classes and on your finals. For students who live farther from campus, the choices you make in the next few weeks may have an impact on your ability to travel home for the semester break. Any student who tests positive or is designated a close contact of someone who tests positive over the course of the next few weeks will risk being placed into isolation or quarantine past our closing date of December 21, 2020. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to continue to adhere to the health and safety protocols (mask-wearing, physically-distancing, limiting group size, limiting your number of close contacts, etc.) so that you may enjoy the holiday break with minimal disruption.

Please continue to wear masks and maintain appropriate physical distance in all indoor and outdoor gatherings where members of different households are present. As has been mentioned in previous communications, students are expected to comply with these regulations in both on-campus and off-campus settings, including restaurants.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me (via email or through open office hours) if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Tom Mogan, Ph.D.
Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and Formation
