BC continues to plan for the August 31 start of classes. While there are still logistical details to be worked out over the coming weeks, we wanted to give you the residential move-in timeline for August. Given physical distancing guidelines, changes have been made to the move-in process to lessen the number of people in the residence halls at any given time.

All students (whether during the traditional move-in time or early arrivals) will need to sign-up for a move-in appointment time for their residence hall. Students arriving outside of their appointment time may not be able to check-in/move-in until the next available time (which may be the next day).

During the move-in period, students will only be permitted to have one guest enter the building with them to help with the move-in process. This is designed to limit the number of people in the residence hall stairwells, elevators, and hallways. All students and their guests must bring and wear a mask when in rooms, common spaces (halls, elevators, at check-in locations, stairwells, etc).

Further details and move-in requirements as they relate to the ongoing pandemic (including the appointment sign-up platform) will be communicated around mid-July.

Traditional Move-In Timeline

  • First-Year International Student Move-In: Tuesday, August 25
  • First-Year Student Move-In: Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27
  • Upperclass and Transfer Student Move-In: Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29
  • There will be additional move-in appointment times for Reservoir Apartments and Walsh Hall starting on Monday, August 24, and running through the week. We recommend that individuals moving in on the earlier days have flexibility with their schedules in case appointment times fill-up causing them to need to arrive August 28-29 (i.e. if you are booking a flight, it should be for August 28-29)
  • Late Arrivals Move-In: August 30

Early Arrivals

  • Group Early Arrivals: Residential Life is working with faculty and staff advisors/supervisors of various groups to determine the early move-in time frame for these groups. If you have any questions on your group arrival, please contact your faculty and staff advisor/supervisor.
  • Individual Early Arrivals: Students with off-campus leases will be permitted to move-in August 20-22. Other students with extenuating circumstances can request an early arrival for August 23 through 27.
  • The early arrival application will open Thursday, July 9 and close on Monday, August 3 via the Agora Portal → My ResLife → WebForms → Transitions

More information will be communicated as details are finalized. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, email transitions@bc.edu. Please also make sure that you are checking the University Reopening BC website and the Office of Residential Life website for additional updates.

We look forward to welcoming you back to campus next month!

Sincerely,

The Office of Residential Life Team
