May 10, 2021 Dear Colleagues: As we approach the end of this semester, I write to update you on plans regarding the resumption of regular University operations for the 2021-22 academic year. Effective May 31, 2021, all special accommodations approved through the Office for Institutional Diversity related to the pandemic, including authorizations for remote work, will expire. Individuals who desire a special accommodation must reapply for the summer 2021, and any special accommodation granted through the Office for Institutional Diversity will end no later than August 13, 2021 unless otherwise approved through the normal ADA accommodation process. Please note that individuals who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will not be eligible for a special accommodation. Boston College will remain subject to guidance and directives from public health officials related to building occupancy making remote or hybrid work a necessity for some through July. To appropriately safeguard the health and safety of the BC community, all faculty, staff, and students must be vaccinated prior to engaging in on-campus activities during the 2021-22 academic year. Faculty and staff will be able to provide proof of vaccination via an online tool through PeopleSoft. The proof of vaccination will be protected as a confidential record, and I ask that you look for a notification that outlines the steps for completing the process. Students will similarly upload proof of vaccination to University Health Services. The University will consider medical or religious exemptions from the mandatory vaccination requirement, and guidelines and procedures for such requests will be communicated in the coming days. Some faculty and staff have inquired about ongoing remote or hybrid work schedules. Boston College does offer the possibility of flexible and remote work, and that policy will remain in place once we return to regular operations for the 2021-22 academic year. The University will provide guidance on the equitable and appropriate application of this policy to vice presidents and deans later this summer. Thank you all for your continued dedication to Boston College, our students, and each other. These past fourteen months have been extraordinary and so many have manifested the generous spirit long animating our community. I look forward to seeing everyone back on the Heights in late August. Sincerely,
David Trainor Vice President, Human Resources
