Boston College

August 28, 2020

Dear Members of the BC Community:

I write to provide an update on the University’s COVID-19 testing effort, including remaining test dates available in the coming days, and plans for asymptomatic surveillance tests, beginning September 2.

As of August 27, the University has conducted tests of 11,001 students, faculty, and staff with seven individuals found to be positive and placed in isolation. Of 4,127 undergraduates tested, five have been diagnosed as positive.  University Health Services and local Boards of Health have conducted contact tracing in accordance with our protocol and state requirements.

I believe that these results show BC’s plan to help safeguard our community’s health is working, though I am very aware that all of us must be vigilant and follow CDC guidelines to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Members of the BC community who intend to be on campus during the fall semester and have not yet been tested can still fulfill this requirement on the following days and times in Conte Forum:

               Friday, August 28 | 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

               Saturday, August 29 | 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

               Sunday, August 30 | 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

               Monday, August 31 | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

               Tuesday, September 1 | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Wednesday, September 2, Boston College will begin asymptomatic surveillance testing, which is critical in enabling the continued health and well-being of our community.  This testing will take place in the Margot Connell Recreation Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays throughout the fall semester from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Individuals selected will be notified of their required asymptomatic test via an email from University Health Services.

During the last ten days, I have witnessed the generosity and commitment of numerous individuals involved in our testing effort, and I am most grateful for that cooperation and support. Let us continue to excel.

Sincerely,
