The number one way cyber criminals access your account is through weak passwords. Follow these tips to make and manage strong passwords.

USE STRONG PASSWORDS

  • Make your passwords:
    • Long: BC advises 8 to 14 characters. Longer is stronger!
    • Complex/Random: Use upper and lowercase letters, and numbers. Don’t use dictionary words that are easy to guess.
    • Unique: Use a different password for each account.

How can you remember all those long, complex, and unique passwords? You don’t have to! Use a password manager to help remember them for you.

USE A PASSWORD MANAGER

  • Password managers can:
    • Store all your passwords
    • Tell you when you have weak or re-used passwords
    • Generate strong passwords for you
    • Automatically fill logins into sites and apps
