The award-winning RN Refresher Certificate Program at Boston College Connell School of Nursing has been redesigned for the post COVID era - now titled the
Fast Track Orientation and RN Refresher Certificate Program
The new design provides updates to time tested and respected content in a more efficient format, offering convenience for nurses eager to be at their best as they:
- Return to the workforce,
- Re-license as an Advanced Practice Nurse,
- Jump start a new career or change jobs,
- Progress in their career and gain confidence in providing nursing care.
Learners will experience an information-packed program with online, self-paced recorded classes and on-campus instruction with hands-on skills training including high-fidelity simulation.

The Certificate Program is divided into two parts: one asynchronous and online, the other live on the Boston College Chestnut Hill campus.
Certificate students must first complete the online courses before they

IV Therapy: Peripheral and Central Line Care - 6 Contact Hours
A full day course dedicated to reviewing the anatomical placement, utilization and assessment of intravenous lines used in acute and home care settings. The course includes time to practice venipuncture for the placement of peripheral lines using simulation materials. Students will gain a thorough understanding of intravenous nursing care, not competency, in placing intravenous lines in clinical practice.
Health Assessment and Fundamental Clinical Skills - 18 Contact Hours
Three days of immersion learning comprised of lectures alternating with hands-on practice of health assessment and clinical skills. Students will have a high-fidelity simulation experience using full scale computerized patient simulators that provide a high level of interactivity and realism to manage and assess select health emergencies
