The Philosophy department welcomes Paul Moyaert (Catholic University of Leuven) as our Gadamer Visiting Professor this semester.  Moyaert specializes in Contemporary French philosophy, ethics, and philosophy of religion.  He is an important scholar of Freud and Lacan, and of the philosophical foundations of psychiatry.  His most recent book, forthcoming from Northwestern University Press, proposes philosophical clarifications and solutions of problems for understanding of schizophrenia.  Professor Moyaert will be on our campus February 5-March 22.  During that time he will be teaching an undergraduate course on the philosophy of human nature and a graduate course on unresolved difficulties in Freudian psychoanalysis.  In late February, he will be giving a public lecture on love and desire in Christian mysticism.
