The philosophy department has a distinguished faculty committed to excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring students. Philosophy department faculty contribute to the University’s core curriculum, the undergraduate major, and graduate programs. The philosophy department faculty is noted for its strengths in the history of philosophy, contemporary continental philosophy, and practical philosophy. In addition, our faculty members are actively engaged in research and teaching in the philosophy of science, philosophy of religion, ethics, aesthetics, metaphysics, social-political philosophy, Asian philosophy, and diaspora studies.
