The forthcoming book Rethinking Work: Essays on Building a Better Workplace (Routledge, 2023) will include writings from more than 40 scholars, activists, workforce and career development professionals, and policy experts addressing how they would envision changing work at this point in time. The book’s editors, Boston College Professor David Blustein and University of Missouri Professor Lisa Flores, seek to initiate a sustained conversation about how to rethink the institution of work, particularly in light of disruptions from the pandemic and challenges such as inequality, racism, fears about technology replacing jobs, et al.
Seeking a broad audience beyond academics and students, the contributors are each writing an accessible and focused essay—more like an op-ed article rather than an academic book chapter—that will summarize their ideas in an evocative way.
