Australian men have poorer health and die sooner than Australian women. This makes it critical for us to identify factors for men of different age groups that contribute to men's pattern of engaging health behaviors that increase their risk of preventable disease and decrease their lifespan. The purpose of the study is to determine if Australian men's gender roles and their experiences of stress and depression contribute to their health, as well as behaviors that affect their health (e.g., exercise, tobacco use, alcohol and drug use, getting help for problems) at different age groups.
