This year's Contemporary Philosophy Workshop on September 20th and 21st in honor of Richard Cobb-Stevens.
The conference will focus on both Prof. Cobb-Stevens’ scholarship and teaching. We are celebrating his ground breaking work in phenomenology and pragmatism, as well as his teaching and leadership of the Philosophy Department and the University Core Curriculum Committee at Boston College. His scholarship and teaching were interdisciplinary, touching on many areas of philosophy and overlapping the history of science, political science, and psychology.
We welcome many former students, family, friends, and colleagues to this celebration of Richard Cobb-Stevens' legacy at Boston College. The conference is also a reunion for the BC doctoral program, so many of whose students were influenced by Prof. Cobb-Stevens in one way or another. This year is also the 50th anniversary of the first Ph.D. graduates from the Boston College Philosophy Department.
