On Friday October 19th 2018 Professor Dermot Moran is giving the Aron Gurwitsch Memorial Lecture on the topic “Husserl and Gurwitsch on Horizonal Intentionality” at the 57th Annual Meeting of the Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy in Penn State University. Aron Gurwitsch (1901-1973) was a Lithuanian Jewish philosopher who taught at Harvard, Brandeis and the New School for Social Research. He made significant contributions to phenomenology by exploring it in connection with Gestalt Psychology. The annual Gurwitsch Memorial lecture, a series sponsored by Center for Advanced Research in Phenomenology since 1981, is based on a bequest by Ms. Alice Gurwitsch, the philosopher’s widow. 2018 SPEP Program
