Martín Bernales Odino has accepted a position as a researcher

Martín Bernales Odino PhD '19, has accepted a position as a researcher at CISOC (Centro de Investigaciones Socio-Culturales/Center for the Research of Socio-Cultural Reality), where he will continue his study about poverty and the poor in Latin America. Martín defended his dissertation at BC in January 2019 ("Towards a Genealogy of Poverty in Latin America: The Birth of the Police of the Poor." (Director James Bernauer, SJ) and will begin his work at CISOC in March 2019.

CISOC is a research institute located in the School of Philosophy of the Alberto Hurtado University (the Jesuit University in Chile). The center aims to study the socio-cultural phenomena to engage in a critical analysis of religion in general and Christianity in particular, and to research about Christianity to critically think about the present. As a researcher at CISOC, Martín will offer research seminars about his studies.
