Global Public Health and the Common Good

A cornerstone of the Schiller Institute, the Program for Global Public Health and the Common Good is grounded in science and rooted in a philosophy of social justice. It is committed to the creation of a healthier and more equitable society and to care for the Earth—our common home.

Program on Global Ethics and Social Trust

The Schiller Institute is a proud partner with the Program on Global Ethics and Social Trust. Our Core faculty member Hanqin Tian serves as one of the global experts for this initiative, and we share a mission for serving the global common good.

Confronting Environmental Racism

In the Spring 2021 semester, the Schiller Institute undertook a concerted, interdisciplinary effort to explore the origins, extent, and effects of environmental racism and began a series of discussions aimed at working toward approaches to combating this deadly injustice.

Boston College is an official Observer Organization for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, also referred to as the Conference of the Parties or COP. This highly influential annual global event serves as the center of global climate change policymaking.

The Boston College Interdisciplinary Research Buildings Workshop, hosted by the Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, explored best practices for academic buildings devoted to interdisciplinary research.
