Based on my interactions and rich in-class discussions with my classmates, I got to learn from their experiences which made me change the way I think about workforce planning concerning the future of work.

What separates Woods from the rest of the pack is that classes are taught by industry professionals. You're being taught by individuals who have actual experience in the field and I think that's really special, and not something you get everywhere.

Hometown: Everett, MA

Program: MS in Leadership & Administration

Current Position: External Affairs Associate at Malden Catholic High School

Who was your favorite professor? "My favorite class was probably Dr. Liz Hiles' Communication in a Global Work Environment course. For starters, the class was all about global communication and taught us how to look at business, marketing, and communication from a global perspective. How I conduct business in the U.S. would be completely different from how I would conduct business in China just because of different cultural norms and dimensions. This class gave me a new lens to look through as I communicate in my every day life and I could not be more grateful. This has allowed me to step back and be more careful in my communication style and respect the culture of others. The result is an ethical, and critical thinking, mindset that allows me to have conversations with people who may not feel they always have a voice due to cultural norms."

Why Woods? "I needed a program that allowed me to work full time, and this school did just that. Woods College offers programs that are not only flexible, but also academically rigorous and demanding. What separates Woods from the rest of the pack is that classes are taught by industry professionals. Your accounting professor is an accountant during the day; your project management professor is a project manager for a big name company; your global communications professor has lived in other countries and talks about their experience. You're being taught by individuals who have actual experience in the field and I think that's really special, and not something you get everywhere."

My educational experience at BC exposed me to opportunities and learning experiences that I would not have had outside the classroom. The courses I took while completing my master's degree positioned me to confidently change careers from higher education to human resources.
