Ed Frechette

Part-time Faculty

Bachelor of Arts Program

Profile

Ed has been an adjunct professor at Boston College for over five years, teaching about opportunities for social impact in the workplace.

He worked for seven years at UTEC, Inc. in Lowell, MA, a nonprofit committed to helping disconnected youth move from poverty and violence to social and economic success. While there, he created three social enterprises that provide real-world work opportunities for the youth and revenues for the organization, including a mattress recycling enterprise, a wood shop, and a culinary program.

Ed grew up in New Hampshire and, after college, started a 30-year career that took him through Chicago advertising agencies and marketing positions at Dunkin’ Donuts and Au Bon Pain. The lure of the nonprofit world motivated Ed to shift gears in 2012. He earned his MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, following his passion to serve disconnected youth.

He and his wife Ellen live in Dorchester. Their three grown children are married and living their lives in other parts of the country.
