Sharon Wofford

Biography

Sharon Wofford is a PhD candidate in English whose research centers on early medieval British literature. Her dissertation project focuses on representations of saints’ bodies in Old English and Anglo-Latin poetry and hagiography. Sharon’s work can be found in her article, “The Old English Phoenix as a Model of Saintly Embodiment,” which was published in Neophilologus in 2023. She has presented her research at conferences such as the International Congress on Medieval Studies, the Harvard Celtic Colloquium, and the meeting of the Southeastern Medieval Association (SEMA.) Sharon also served on the Executive Board of the Vagantes Conference on Medieval Studies from 2018-2020.

While at Boston College, Sharon has taught First-Year Writing, Literature Core, and an English elective titled “The Living and Dead Body in Medieval Literature and Culture."

Sharon holds a BA in English and an MA in English with a certificate in Medieval Studies from the University of Mississippi.
