The 15th annual Boston College Arts Festival begins today, showcasing music, theater, dance, poetry, film, painting, sculpture and more from members of the University community.

A highlight of the festival will be public appearances by alumni guests acclaimed writer Robert Polito ’73 and award-winning photographer James Balog ’74. Polito will be presented with the Boston College Arts Council Alumni Award for Distinguished Achievement by Vice President for University Mission and Ministry Jack Butler, SJ.

Associate Professor of Fine Arts Sheila Gallagher will receive the faculty arts award, which will be presented - along with student awards - at a ceremony tomorrow in the Stokes Art Tent at 4 p.m.

Festival highlights also include the performance of the adult musical comedy “Avenue Q” at BC’s Robsham Theater Arts Center, and more than 80 public events for all ages.
