Sr. Tuyet Hong, MCV

I arrived at Boston College's School of Theology and Ministry on Christmas Day 2017. It was my first time visiting the United States. Seeing the school covered in snow, as beautiful as a painting, deeply moved me, a sister from tropical Vietnam.

I learned about CSTM through Vietnamese priests and religious who had studied here. Upon returning home to Vietnam, they worked effectively in seminaries and congregations, greatly contributing to the Vietnamese Church. Walking around the CSTM campus to the main campus accompanied by Fr. Peter Bao Nguyen, S.J.,  standing before the statue of St. Ignatius, I silently prayed that one day I, too, might study theology at CSTM.

That prayer came true on February 14, 2022, when I received my acceptance letter to the Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) program at CSTM, along with a full tuition scholarship. Studying at a prestigious Catholic institution was an extraordinary privilege for an international sister like me. However, I faced concerns about housing, community life, and living expenses. CSTM's Financial Aid office understood my needs and provided all the support I needed to focus entirely on my studies and enjoy my education.

When my friends ask me why I chose CSTM, my answer has always been consistent: "Because CSTM is my first love." Having completed the M.T.S. program and continued with the Th.M., choosing CSTM has definitely been the right decision.

CSTM has given me not only theological knowledge but also invaluable experiences. Renowned professors and faculty with deep expertise are always ready to guide and listen. The extensive library system, rich with print and online resources, offers excellent study spaces. The community here is alive: from daily Masses to free meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays - especially the Thursday lunch after the 12:15 Mass, where students, professors, and staff come together to share and converse. For me, this is the epitome of a collegial Church.

Beyond academic knowledge, I have grown immensely in my spiritual life and relationships. CSTM will always hold a special place in my heart – my first love, a love that is complete and worthy.
