There are multiple great spaces that CSTM students can utilize on main campus (for both studying and fun!). Below are some of the places that I have enjoyed the most over the course of my first year at BC.

Bapst Library

Bapst Library

While officially the Art Library, Bapst is one of the best study spots on campus regardless of what you are studying. It is often considered “our own little piece of Hogwarts in Boston” for obvious reasons once you go inside. The grand marble staircase leading to an expansive hall complete with chandeliers, vaulted ceilings, and magnificent stained glass windows leave you fully immersed in an environment that makes you want to do academic work. It is just one of multiple places on campus that will leave you feeling “wow, I can’t believe this is what my school looks like.”

Gasson Commons

Gasson Commons

Gasson Commons is another great spot on main campus. With books lining the walls and a mix of comfortable chairs and tables for studying, this is a great place to stop for a moment to get a few things done or settle in for a few hours of reading.

Outdoor Study Spaces

Outdoor Study Spaces

When there is no snow on the ground and it is actually nice outside (as the photos illustrate) the various benches around campus offer a nice place to work outside or meet up with friends and enjoy the weather.

BC Home Football Games!

BC Home Football Games!

A non-study spot that is also a must try at some point during your time here is a Boston College football game! Having never been to a school with a football team in my life, it has certainly been a fun adjustment. I went to the BC v. Florida State my first semester and it was so much fun!

Chestnut Hill Reservoir

Chestnut Hill Reservoir

Just on the other side of the football field, on your way to the Reservoir T stop, is the Chestnut Hill Reservoir, complete with a dirt (or snow) path all the way around. Whether you need a mental break from studying or walk on it daily while you commute to campus, walking around the reservoir is another great advantage of BC’s location.
