Sister Jeanmarie Gribaudo, C.S.J. (Sister Jeanne) entered the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston in 1989 and made final vows in 1995. As a Sister of St. Joseph, she obtained a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from Boston College in 1998, a Licentiate in Sacred Theology from Weston Jesuit School of Theology in 2007, and a Doctorate of Sacred Theology from Boston College in 2012.
She has extensive experience working with youth in inner city parishes in Boston and served for over ten years as Mayor Thomas Menino’s Youth Advisor. She has also worked in higher education as Assistant to the President at Stonehill College in North Easton, MA, and has taught courses at Stonehill College, Fairfield University, Sacred Heart University, St. John’s Seminary, the College of the Holy Cross, and Boston College.
In 2015 Sister Jeanne published the book A Holy yet Sinful Church: Three Twentieth-Century Moments in a Developing Theology (Liturgical Press), which won second place in the 2016 Association of Catholic Publishers (ACP) Excellence in Publishing Award for the field of theology.
Her passion is to find ways to bridge the gap between “real world” experience and often deemed as “other world” theology. Hence, the intro/core classes help students to realize the importance of reflecting on their experiences through many, varied lenses. Moreover, they enable them to discover how foundational reflection on experience is to living a life of meaning and purpose. Accompanying students as they move through the college years and assisting them to understand the tenets of a Jesuit, Catholic education–"cura personalis," "being men and women for and with others," "finding God in all things"–and the critical importance of conversation have become an area of keen interest for her as all intersect student formation with the practice of theology.
