Congratulations to Pat Doherty, Director of BC’s Institute for Scientific Research, on her election as Chair of the Satellite Division of ION, the Institute of Navigation. The announcement came at this year’s ION GNSS+ 2020, the 33rd International Technical Meeting of the Division.
Doherty has been serving as Deputy Chair for the Division, which seeks to encourage the development, operation, and use of navigation and position determination systems incorporating satellite-based elements (e.g., GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, Beidou, to name a few). The Division sponsors the annual International Technical Meeting, which had over 1800 (virtual) participants this year, and the prestigious Kepler and Parkinson Awards, as well as student paper awards.
As Division Chair, Doherty will be the chief executive officer and represent the Division on ION’s Executive Committee. Joining her on the Satellite Division Executive Committee, and also pictured are: Vice Chair Sandy Kennedy (Hexagon, Canada), Secretary Dr. Demoz Gegre-Egziabher (U. Minnesota), and Treasurer Dr. Mohammed Khider (Google),
