When BC takes on Syracuse at Saturday’s Homecoming football game at Alumni Stadium, it will also be a day of thanks from the University to faculty and staff that will highlight in particular the contributions of staffers from a number of employee groups at Boston College.

In an email last week, Provost and Dean of Faculties David Quigley and Vice President for Human Resources David Trainor announced the second annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day, inviting employees and their families to enjoy free tickets to the game, as well as access to a pregame hospitality event on the Conte Forum floor starting at 10:30 a.m. Employees who sign up to attend the game will also have the chance to win game day on-campus parking, pregame VIP field passes, and BC team gear.

During the game’s various time-outs, a number of employees will be recognized for their contributions to the University:

From the faculty: Professor of Economics Harold Petersen and Professor of Biology Danielle Taghian (Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences), Sweeney Professor of Accounting Peter Wilson (Carroll School of Management); from the Boston College Police Department: Lieutenant Tom King, Sergeant Dan Moriarty, Policy Officer Santos Perez, Dispatcher Cheryl Mariano; from BC Dining Services: Mary Lou Mila (McElroy Commons) and Lafontant Charles (Lower Campus Dining); from Facilities Services: Norman Reid (Athletic Maintenance); Osiris Mejia (Landscape Services), Steve Murphy (Carpentry), Joe Vando (Custodial Services); from the Staff Advisory Senate (representing Administrative Support Staff): Colleen Salmon (University Advancement), Paula Grealish (Learning to Learn); and from the Supported Employment Program, which has provided job development and vocational training for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities since 1987: Brendan Durkin (Facilities Services) and Margie Richardson, Kevin Slattery, Joel Taubman, Sandy Tuttle, and Meredith Williamson (Dining Services).

The response deadline is October 18; faculty and staff may RSVP here. Any questions may be addressed to the Athletics Marketing Office at x23005.
