University Health Services (UHS) has reported a continued decrease in positive COVID-19 cases during the fourth week of spring semester testing, March 1-7.
Through March 2, UHS reported a total of nine positive COVID-19 cases, including eight undergraduates, out of 2,126 tests conducted.
Currently, there are 33 BC undergraduates in isolation—25 in University isolation housing and eight recovering at home. A total of 728 undergraduates have recovered and returned to normal activities.
Since testing began on August 16, University Health Services has conducted a total of 219,618 tests of BC community members with 905 positive cases reported. Among the total were 161,643 undergraduate tests with 761 positives. The University’s cumulative positivity rate is 0.4%.
By comparison, Boston University has reported 1,555 positive cases, including 1,096 students; Northeastern University has had 1,376 cases, including 1,127 students; and University of Massachusetts-Amherst has had 1,985 positives, including 1,847 students.
“We continue to witness a decrease in positive cases during this fourth week of testing,” said Dr. Doug Comeau, Director of University Health Services. “We ask all members of the community to continue to follow University guidelines and public health recommendations to limit the spread of COVID-19.”
Asymptomatic testing continues at Boston College Mondays through Thursdays in the MAC Courts in the Margot Connell Recreation Center. Test results are posted each weekday on the Reopening Boston College website.
