Tenure Track Position in Philosophy of Race, with specialization in African and African Diaspora Philosophy
Assistant Professor of Philosophy, tenure-track. AOS: Philosophy and Race, specifically in the areas of African and/or African Diaspora thought. AOC: some combination of value theory, social and political philosophy, and/or philosophy of law. Broad competence in the history of philosophy is required. The successful candidate will offer courses that also serve our African and African Diaspora Studies program.
Applicants must have a record of strong research and show outstanding research potential, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching philosophy. Responsibilities include undergraduate core and elective courses and graduate courses (2-2 course load) plus Ph.D. supervision and service to the department. The department supports an interdisciplinary core program in the study of major philosophical and religious texts (Perspectives on Western Culture) and a program of ethical, political and theological analysis for students engaged in service projects (PULSE Program).
