Remembrances
Charles T. Willock Jr. was my mother Miriam Arlene Willock's (Grover) brother. She was 16 years old when he was killed. As the story goes, he wasn't originally planned to fly this exercise. He took the place of a fellow soldier that had been drinking and unable to fly. My Uncle took his place. He and others were killed. I have his medals. They are bent from the heat of the flames of the crash. My mother was the one that received the telegram. She was home alone and 16 years old. She never really came to grips with what happened to her only brother.
