March 23, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

As Fr. Leahy mentioned in his most recent email message, Governor Baker issued an order on March 23 closing all non-essential businesses concurrent with a stay-at-home advisory for residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts effective 12:00 pm (noon) on Tuesday, March 23, 2020 through 12:00 (noon) on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.  The order also prohibits gatherings of 10 or more people.  As a result of this order, all non-essential services on-campus will be suspended with work to continue remotely wherever possible.  Certain essential services to sustain critical infrastructure, security, remote teaching, and support for residential students will continue and will need to be staffed accordingly.  Area vice presidents, vice provosts, deans and directors are responsible for developing appropriate work plans to sustain these critical services and to identify individuals who will be coming to campus to fulfill these duties.  Lists of these individuals should be sent to John Tommaney (tommaney@bc.edu) as soon as possible.  John will create a master list that will be provided to Public Safety and utilized to generate credentials if required by the Commonwealth in order to enforce the stay-at-home advisory.  Please notify faculty and staff in your respective areas in accordance with your previously developed work plans for essential on-campus employees.

Should you have any questions or need any further guidance, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Thank you for all of your continued efforts during this challenging period.

Sincerely,

Michael Lochhead
Executive Vice President
