Only ten percent of certified dockmasters nationwide are women, and Christina Martin ’93 is one of them. Since 2015, she’s been Director of Marina Operations at the Nantucket Boat Basin, a destination marina for vacationing boaters in Nantucket Harbor, where she manages the comings and goings of fishing charters, high-speed ferries, and 260-foot luxury yachts. In high season, celebrities and CEOs flock to the island, keeping Martin’s fifty-person staff busy around the clock. “Bill Belichick has been out here quite a bit,” she said. “Sometimes people are just standing around his car and I’ll see them and be like, Get out of here. Let him out!”
