Stick Together

The members of the first-ever BC women's ice hockey team reunited for a ceremony in their honor.

The original members of the Boston College women’s hockey team took the ice together for the first time in more than forty years at a ceremony in their honor in December. Thirty former players and coaches, along with their families, gathered in celebration before a Boston College–Boston University game at Conte Forum. “I told everyone I waited forty-three years for this day,” said Reenie Baker Sansted ’78, who founded and played for the first-ever BC women’s ice hockey team in 1974. Marveling at how far the program has come from its meager beginnings, she added: “To see the BC women in full uniforms playing so well, it just makes my heart swell.” ◽
