Boston College Companions Statement
Boston College Companions (BCC) is committed to safeguarding personal data. This Statement describes how the BCC website (bc.edu/companions) and other BCC websites that link to it (collectively, the “Sites”) may collect and use personal information about visitors to the Sites (collectively, the “Visitors”).
Personal information collected from Visitors is used by Boston College to ensure the functionality of the Sites, in furtherance of its educational and charitable activities, and/or to engage with Visitors about Boston College.
Personal information may be collected from a Visitor when the Visitor uses a Site to provide information, such as when submitting a form or requesting information from BCC. Information about a Visitor may also be provided automatically, such as when the Visitor’s web browser provides the Visitor’s IP address, geolocation data, unique device identifiers, pages visited, length of visit, and terms searched.
Boston College may also use cookies and other tools, including but not limited to Google Analytics, to enhance its Sites, including to evaluate usage patterns, establish continuity between requests, personalize a site to a Visitor’s preferences, authenticate a Visitor’s log-in, to analyze web traffic, monitor and ensure the security of the network, and to help diagnose and correct service issues with the Site. Visitors may adjust the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on their browsers. However, if the cookie settings are adjusted, a Visitor may not be able to use the full functionality of a Site.
Boston College may also utilize third-party vendors to show Boston College advertisements and other communications on websites and digital properties that are not controlled by Boston College. These third-party vendors with whom Boston College contracts may also use cookies and other tools to collect and utilize information from individuals, including to serve ads based on a Visitor’s prior visits to the Sites and to assess the effectiveness of those ads. In addition, prospective students and others may elect to provide their personal information to Boston College through these digital ad platforms or other websites controlled by these third-party vendors. While BCC shall treat any information it receives from these third-party vendors in accordance with this Privacy Statement, Boston College is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, or content of these third-party vendors.
Personal information collected, maintained and used by BCC shall comply with applicable laws and regulations.
