Dr. Suzanne Hevelone is an experienced educator and scholar, currently teaching in the PULSE Program. Her current class, "The Person and Social Responsibility," is a year-long course that offers students an opportunity to explore theological and philosophical texts while engaging in service-learning placements.
Previously, Dr. Hevelone taught “God, Self, and Society” and “Introduction to Christian Theology” at Boston College, as well as many other historical and theological classes at other universities. She also worked for four years at the Boisi Center for Religion and American Public Life at Boston College.
Dr. Hevelone holds a PhD in Theology from Boston College, where her dissertation investigated the intersection of hagiography and preaching in the work of Jacobus de Voragine. Prior to this, she completed a Master of Studies in Medieval Ecclesiastical History at Oxford University and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at Gordon College.
Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. Hevelone is committed to addressing questions of justice and equity in contemporary society. She actively participates in discussions on social issues, drawing on her scholarly background to contribute meaningfully to the conversation.
In her free time, Dr. Hevelone enjoys time with her family and friends (except when her children will not stop talking about Minecraft) and enjoys exploring the coast of Maine. She is an active participant at her United Methodist Church.
