Cedric grew up in Southern France and Belgium. After teaching high school for a few years, he moved to the U.S. to pursue further studies at Boston College. His Th.M. thesis explored the notion of spiritual growth in the writings of Paul, John of the Cross, and Karl Rahner.
Cedric’s research interests encompass Neoplatonist theologians, as well as contemporary approaches to spiritual experience and consciousness. He is especially interested in consciousness studies, Rahner’s ideas on transcendental experience, phenomenology, and Derrida’s reading of Husserl.
Besides academics, Cedric nurtures a life-long love for Virgil, Marcel Proust, Virginia Woolf, Thomas Mann, and the films of Martin Scorsese. His non-committal relationship with running is complicated by Boston’s wayward weather.
