Profile

Sun Ho Kim was born and raised on the island of Wando, South Korea and worked as actor, dancer and choreographer for television, musical theater, and dance productions. After coming to the US in 1994, he received an MFA in Choreography at the Boston Conservatory and has been working in dance and opera productions as a choreographer and dancer.

As a dancer, Sun Ho worked in Boston with Dance Collective and Prometheus Dance. In NYC, he worked at The Metropolitan Opera Ballet and New York City Opera Dance Company with numerous choreographers and performed as a principal dancer in John Adams’ Opera “Nixon in China (Ballet, The Red Detachment of Women)” in various cities throughout the USA.

Aa choreographer and artistic director of Sun Ho Kim & Dancers, he has presented his work at the Joyce Soho NYC, Singapore DANZ INC, CASA ASIA Barcelona, Biennale Danza e Italia in Pesaro and at Harvard University. He has also choreographed for opera companies, including The Boston Lyric, Opera Colorado, Minnesota Opera and the Washington National Opera.

Currently, he teaches Contemporary Dance, Choreography, Elements of Dance and Movement and Dance for Performers at Boston College. Also, he has been developing an Inter-disciplinary artistic form that incorporates original movement improvisation method with visual art and literature. His new work has been shown at various artistic residencies in Italy, France, Spain and most recently in Sweden and Norway.
