The National Science Foundation has awarded Assistant Professor Wen Fan a second grant, with Co-PI Phyllis Moen at University of Minnesota, to continue their research on the implications of remote work in the time of COVID-19. The award amount for Dr. Fan’s portion of the research is $322,101. Using COVID-19 as a natural laboratory for capturing both variability in and social disparities around remote work across intersecting social groups, they will build on baseline data fielded in October 2020 to collect three additional waves of nationally representative panel data on a sample of Americans who worked remotely either partially or completely since COVID-19. In addition to tracking population trends in remote work and remote working conditions for various subgroups, they will use multivariate regression models to examine continuities, changes, and disparities in respondents’ working conditions, quality of life, and adaptive strategies.
