Katie Laurila '18 Wins a Fulbright Award

Katie Laurila graduated from BC in 2018 with a double major in Psychology and German Studies. She completed a Senior Thesis, entitled Identify as illness? Rethinking transgender suicide risk and healthcare in Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Karen Rosen (Psychology) and Prof. Daniel Bowles (German Studies). Katie just won a Fulbright Award to study and do research in Austria during the 2019-2020 academic year. She will be exploring recent advancements in gender minority care within the Austrian healthcare system. After her Fulbright year, Katie hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in Public Health with a focus on improving gender minority healthcare in the United States and abroad.
