Biography

Khalil is a PhD candidate interested in the Arabic-speaking Eastern Mediterranean during the Mamluk and Ottoman periods. In 2021, he graduated from the American University of Beirut after completing his M.A. thesis on critical editing practices and the concept of 'turath' (heritage) throughout the twentieth century. His current research focuses on cultural history including food ways, music, material culture, and popular literature.
