Spencer France is a first-year Master’s Student at Boston College, interested in studying the portrayals of substance abuse, mental illness, and trauma as they appear in 20th-century American Literature. He hopes to explore the connections between these conditions and the survivors of WWI and how they were reflected in mainstream Modernist work.
He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Texas A&M whereupon graduating he worked at a middle school in Minneapolis. This experience illuminated the joy of teaching and working with students, and Spencer currently works in the English Department as part of the Writing Fellows Program.
Outside his academic studies, Spencer enjoys rowing, D&D, baking, and exploring new areas to practice photography.
