U.S. states that adopt stricter gun laws have safer schools, and teenagers are less likely to carry a weapon at any location in those states, according to a new study co-authored by BC School of Social Work Associate Professor Summer Sherburne Hawkins, Professor of Economics and Social Work Christopher Baum, and Marco Ghiani, Ph.D. '18, and published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
