Please join us for a one of a kind performance by Siarhei Douhushau. Douhushau is a Belarusian singer, musician, and an ethnographer. During the performance, he will immerse the guests in the centuries-old singing traditions of the Belarusian people. The songs, collected in villages of the Palessie region of Belarus, touch on all aspects of country life and reflect the philosophy of the Belarusian people. The musical traditions that will be presented range from the lyrical to the humorous, dealing with marital relationships, celebrations, feasts, and war.

In addition to singing, Siarhei Douhushau will play and present authentic Belarusian folk instruments: kolavaia lira (hurdy-gurdy), parnaia dudka (double flute), dudka (Belarusian fife), akaryna (ocarina), zhaleika (folk clarinet), and sapilka. Visual materials will accompany the music to provide explanations for the singing traditions and musical instruments.
