The Annual Japanese Language contest, held every spring, is sponsored by the Consulate General of Japan in Boston. It consists of an Essay division and Speech division. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the final round of the speech contest was postponed this year to November 21, and was conducted through Zoom.

High School and College students in New England are invited to this contest every year. With more than 100 essays entered from many prestige colleges, such as: Harvard, Tufts, Brandeis, Wellesley or Bowdoin, this year our BC recent graduates have done remarkably. Congratulations to Yuetong Zheng (2020) who won the FIRST place in College Advanced Speech division,  Tara Kim (2020) who won the THIRD place in College Advanced Speech Division, and Kijun Song (2020) won the FIRST place in College Advanced Essay division.  Xinyi Fan (2020) and Yuhan Huang (2021) won honorary awards in College Advanced Speech and College Intermediate Speech, respectively. We would like to proudly mention that Boston College has been consistently bringing award winners every year for nearly a decade!!!  The recent graduates are currently working as either full-time employees or graduate students.

Congratulations Yuetong, Tara and Kijun!  We are so proud of you! We wish the best for your future accomplishments!
