Student Grants
Six internship grants were awarded to students who worked virtually in unpaid summer internships at various civic organizations, including the New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice, which works to promote the ethical treatment of immigrants to ensure their social, economic, and political integration into society; Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts, which serves youth from under-resourced families in the Boston region; and the City of Boston Environmental Department, whose mission is to enhance the quality of life in Boston by protecting air, water, and land resources. A grant was also awarded to a student whose work with an EdTech startup seeks to improve mental health, accountability, and social well-being for middle-schoolers. Other students received grants to conduct research work at an international law firm on international trade and major cross-border transactions; and in Boston College’s Managing for Social Impact and the Public Good Program to conduct original research focused on leaders of non-profits, social ventures, and for-profit impact investment firms to analyze how their organizations and programs are driving positive social outcomes in society.
