Dr. Mary Ann Hinsdale's teaching specializations are in ecclesiology, Christology, theological anthropology, and feminist theologies. Sister Hinsdale has also written several essays about the increase in the number of Catholic women theologians and the slow pace of their inclusion in departments of Catholic Theology. She is a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Monroe, MI) and is a past president of the Catholic Theological of America. She has a special interest in Carmelite spirituality, particularly for Teresa of Avila who is one of the patrons of her order. Dr. Hinsdale’s current research centers on Mary of Magdala as a resource for women’s ecclesial leadership. She is the author of the books, Women Shaping Theology and ‘It Comes from the People’: Community Development and Local Theology, several edited collections of theology, along with dozens of articles and book chapters.
