Boston College Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs J.M. Caparro has been named interim athletics director, effective May 26.
Caparro, who oversees ticket sales and operations, multimedia rights, and facilities and event management for the Athletics Department, also serves as sport administrator for men’s basketball, lacrosse, volleyball and fencing.
He recently secured a multimedia rights partnership with Learfield IMG College, and has been credited with increasing department revenues through the creation of new ticketing solutions, which has led to a number of the largest revenue-producing games in the department’s history, and in enhancing the game-day experience for BC fans across all sports.
Boston College has announced that it will begin a search immediately to find a successor to William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond, who was named the director of athletics at UCLA on May 19.
“I am humbled and honored to serve as the interim director of athletics for Boston College,” said Caparro.
“I look forward to continuing the mission of our athletics program and I am excited to lead our department through this transition.”
Before coming to Boston College in 2015, Caparro was the vice president of ticket sales and service for the Brooklyn Nets. He had previously worked in the Team Marketing and Business Operations group for the NBA League Office, sharing sales and marketing best practices across the NBA and WNBA.
A native of Upper Saddle River, N.J., Caparro graduated from Lehigh University, where he was a member of the varsity football team. He and his wife, Karen, have four children, Joseph, Caroline, Sophia, and Isabel.
