Vania is a doctoral researcher in the Urban Studies Program at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Her research interests are in the areas of migration studies, cultural geography, socialization, and gender. In her doctoral thesis, she addresses the experiences of Afro-descendant migrants in the metropolitan area of Santiago de Chile and develops a proposal of racialization of the urban space.
Vania has worked as a technical advisor to social and interdisciplinary research and study centers and as an analyst in the Public Service of Chile in the area of housing and social development. She has also worked as a teacher instructor in undergraduate and graduate courses on topics related to human geography, cultural heritage, and qualitative research methodologies. Vania is part of the Association of Feminist Geographers of Chile.
