International Graduates The Office of Global Engagement would like to honor the over 340 international students from over 50 countries, who are expected to become Boston College graduates by the end of this academic year. After a year of difficulties and distance for our international community, we proudly celebrate all of their hard work and accomplishments. Congratulations! 
The Strategic Alliance of Catholic Research Universities Webinar: The Place of Doubt in the Credibility of Science
SACRU has a number of webinars planned based upon the efforts of new working groups considering topics that include sustainability, family challenges, and artificial intelligence. Ecohydrology Collaboration With Pontificia Universidad Javeriana This year, Noah Snyder of the Earth and Environmental Sciences department at Boston College has been collaborating with Andrés Vargas Luna, Jorge Alberto Escobar Vargas, and Nelson Obregón of the Instituto Javeriano del Agua at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ) in Bogotá, Columbia. In early April, Dr. Snyder was a virtual guest lecturer for a class at PUJ discussing eco-hydro-geomorphic impacts of dams in the United States. In May, the faculty from PUJ will reciprocate, joining Dr. Snyder’s Ecohydrology course virtually to discuss ecological, social, and justice-related aspects of dams and water resources in Columbia.
Working Group on Global Ethics Presently, we have a University-wide Working Group discussing the possibility of developing a Center for Global Ethics. The Group is made up of 20 members representing all eight BC schools and is chaired by Laura Steinberg, Director of the Schiller Institute, and Jim Keenan, SJ, Vice Provost for Global Engagement. The Working Group meets monthly and is now entertaining a variety of proposals.
Visiting Fellowships We look forward to welcoming Global Engagement Doctoral Research Fellows in the Summer of 2022. In collaboration with the Jesuit Institute, there will also be a SACRU faculty fellow visiting in the Spring of 2023. Global Conversations Program The Global Conversations program connects Boston Colleges students with other university students from around the world to discuss a range of issues in small groups via video conference. Conversation themes include the COVID-19 pandemic, racial justice, social change, environmental justice, globalization, and migration. Many of these conversations are taking place with our partners at PUC-Chile in Santiago, Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, and the Ateneo de Manila University, among others. Before the end of the term there will be a few more opportunities to take part in this exciting program.

The Boston College Arts Festival brings communities together to celebrate the arts. The Arts Festival never fails to be one of the most vibrant and exciting events at Boston College. In-person events at the 2021 Arts Festival are closed to the public.
Publication Highlight The Album of the World Emperor examines an extraordinary piece of art: an album of paintings, drawings, calligraphy, and European prints compiled for the Ottoman sultan Ahmed I (r. 1603–17) by his courtier Kalender Paşa (d. 1616).
In this detailed study of one of the most important works of seventeenth-century Ottoman art, the Norma Jean Calderwood Professor of Islamic and Asian Art, Emine Fetvacı, uses the album to explore questions of style, iconography, foreign inspiration, and the very meaning of the visual arts in the Islamic world.

The Irish Influence — Daniel Mulhall In March, The Irish Influence welcomed His Excellency, Daniel Mulhall to speak about his experience with the Department of Foreign Affairs and as Ireland's first Consul General and Ireland's Ambassador for multiple nations. He is the author of A New Day Dawning: A Portrait of Ireland in 1900 (Cork, 1999) and co-editor of The Shaping of Modern Ireland: A Centenary Assessment (Dublin, 2016).
The Irish Influence also have a stunning new introduction sequence by animator Liam Weir.
