Longitudinal follow-up of brief parenting interventions to reduce risk of child physical maltreatment

Longitudinal follow-up of brief parenting interventions to reduce risk of child physical maltreatment

Background

This project is designed to test the sustained effects of two brief parenting programs, Brief Primary Care Triple P (Level 2) and Play Nicely, and to examine the influence of social contexts on their efficacy and adoption.

Outcome Assessment

The main outcomes being assessed are attitudes toward and use of physical punishment, use of positive parenting practices, and child emotional and behavioral adjustment.

Goals

The long-term goal is to strengthen the evidence base for widely adaptable and sustainable brief parenting programs deliverable in family service and pediatrics settings to broad populations of parents in order to reduce rates of child physical abuse.
