Associate Professor Westy Egmont, director of the Immigrant Integration Lab, appeared on “The Take with Sue O’Connell,” a daily New England Cable News talk show, to discuss new policies regarding the separation of families trying to enter the U.S. He also spoke about “Addressing Immigrant Anxiety in an Unsettling Time” at the 2018 NASW-MA Symposium, gave a lecture titled “15 Significant Changes to Immigration Practice and Policy in 15 Months,” at North Hill in Needham, MA, and was the discussant at a doctoral seminar on “The Risk of Adultification for Children Used as Family Interpreters” at William James College.
Along with the Lynch School of Education’s Brinton Lykes and Martin Scanlan, Egmont was awarded a Boston College Research Assistantship for Diverse Scholars (RADS) grant for the project “Can Networked Improvement Communities Expand Immigrants' and Refugees' Opportunities to Learn?”
