Izzy has assisted Prof. Hawkins in research on the impact of state level policies on maternal health outcomes in the US, and she received an Advanced Study Grant to examine the county level factors that impact teen pregnancy rates in Arkansas. She spent the summer of 2021 volunteering with Kino Border Initiative on the US-Mexico Border with funding from the Council for Women of Boston College Colloquium Fellowship Program. She gained new perspectives on the migration process and improved her Spanish fluency.
