Grace Assogba is a senior IS major with a concentration is in Ethics and Social Justice. She grew up in both Lome, Togo and New York City. She speaks Ewe, French and some Spanish and has always been very interested in African socio-political and economic development. Within International Studies, Grace is particularly passionate about decolonial citizenship (especially within francophone countries across the diaspora), human rights, international law, and the emergence of social movements.
Grace took the PULSE service learning program her freshman year, and has been a member of the Undergraduate Government of Boston College (UGBC), the African Students Organization, and the dance team Presenting Africa to You (PATU). After taking the Complex Problems core renewal course "From BLM to #MeToo," Grace served as a TA for the class. She is a Sr. Thea’s Ladies mentor in the Thea Bowman AHANA Intercultural Center, and an MLK Scholarship Finalist. Currently Grace sits as the undergraduate representative on the steering committee for the BC Forum on Racial Justice in America and is the sisterly relations chair for the Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
While studying abroad in Paris, France, Grace received an Advanced Study Grant to explore the emergence of afro-feminist movements on matters of race and policy within the country with film directors, jouranlists and acitvists such as Assa Traore, Rokhaya Diallo and Amandine Gay.
In her sophomore summer she participated in the Carroll School of Management’s Catalyst Program, and through her involvement in the non-profit organizations Management Leadership for Tomorrow and Sponsors for Educational Opportunity spent time in a year-long fellowship with L’Oreal in strategy, diversity & inclusion and marketing. Most recently, she interned in Commercial Real Estate exploring community development banking at J.P. Morgan. Right now Grace is working on building a Gen-Z led media company that focuses on digital storytelling by centering empowerment, culture and global activism.
