Lacee A. Satcher is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at Vanderbilt University. Her research sits at the intersection of environmental sociology, medical sociology, and urban sociology. Currently, she is exploring the ways that processes of environmental racism and racial capitalism have historically shaped and continue to shape the health and well-being of Black Americans in urban, southern cities. She loves being outdoors and hiking, and she’s looking forward to doing some whale watching in the Boston area soon. We at the Environmental Studies program are excited for her to be joining us!
